My elder son went there and thank goodness my younger son went someplace else! Carmel Pak U is not the way it is trumpeted to be. The principal [Mr. Tam] who also has Chem background had poor command of English and mediocre Chem knowledge [outside of the textbook norm]. Although my son wasn’t the cream of the crop [27 points in the DSE], their so-called guidance counselor eke him to go the CUHK [boils down to school’s affinity and overall networking; which speaks volumes] route instead of his preferred HKU. Whilst at uni, my son was derided as naïve--how embarassing! His younger brother teased CPU as substandard and rightly so for an institution whom excelled at tooting their own horn. And whatever happened to their strict adherence to school policy? During my son’s 6 year attendance, I’ve seen at least 3 pairs of of adolescent dating [學校沒有真正加強打擊拍拖風氣因此變成拍拖聖地!]--right conduct huh? Students there also loved to buy food from the sidewalk and consume their food as they walk... talk about etiquette! Plenty of foul language too from lower secondary, says a lot about teachers being detached from reality and for the school itself who prides herself from being strict!
